Here is Arsenal’s potential side for next season based on current players and possible signings.
Arsenal are in great shape heading into the new campaign with Arsene Wenger having already made superb additions to the Gunners.
Mathieu Debuchy and Alexis Sanchez have taken care of two holes in the squad and they should both start when the new Premier League campaign gets under way next month.
We’ve had a go at trying to name Arsenal’s starting side for next season.
GK – Wojciech Szczesny
The Pole is the club’s number one regardless of whether Wenger brings in David Ospina or Iker Casillas as an additional signing.
RB – Mathieu Debuchy
The Frenchman has Premier League experience and will slot straight into the back four.
CB – Laurent Koscielny
Koscielny was a key component of the Arsenal defence last season and he should keep his place.
CB – Thomas Vermaelen
Vermaelen is being linked with a move away from Arsenal but he could start after Arsene Wenger revealed he doesn’t think his German players will be fresh for the new season.
LB – Kieran Gibbs
Gibbs has that injection of pace, which makes him a good player to have at full-back. He can get forward and support attacks as well as dropping off quickly.
RM – Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
The Ox was a standout player for Arsenal towards the back end of last season and he should be fresh after not featuring prominently over the summer with England.
DM – Mathieu Flamini
Wenger will want that experience in front of his back four and the Frenchman can pick off opposition attacks.
CM – Aaron Ramsey
Rambo started pre-season with a bang and he’ll be confident that he can keep his form from last season going.
AM – Santi Cazorla
With Mesut Ozil one of those German players likely to miss the first game, Cazorla can step in and take care of things behind the main striker.
LM – Alexis Sanchez
Sanchez is a world class addition to this Arsenal team and he can play out on the left until Lukas Podolski is back in the side.
ST – Olivier Giroud
There are no indications that Wenger is going to replace Giroud up front, which means further chances for him to lead the Arsenal attack.
