Here’s the side which could start for Arsenal next season based on current players and possible new signings.
Arsenal will be one of the favourites to win the Premier League title next season.
The Gunners spent more time at the top of the league last season than any other team and Arsene Wenger will be keen for his team to go one better this time round both domestically and in the Champions League.
Arsenal have the resources to be able to afford any player in the world and the club have been linked with a couple of players this past week who could feature in the starting side next season.
We’ve had a go at predicting Arsenal’s team for next year.
GK – Wojciech Szczesny
The Pole will be the club’s number one next season. The goalkeepers Arsenal are linked with will have to accept they’ll start behind him.
RB – Mathieu Debuchy
Some sources have suggested Arsenal have an agreement with Newcastle United for the player to move after the World Cup, as Wenger considers Serge Aurier alternatives.
CB – Per Mertesacker
Mertesacker has shown the fight and the spirit at the World Cup, which we’ve grown used to at Arsenal. He starts.
CB – Laurent Koscielny
The Frenchman is the perfect partner for Mertesacker and the pair of them will be aiming for consistency next season.
LB – Kieran Gibbs
Gibbs is a much better player than the one who played last season. He’s good at both ends of the pitch and likely to start ahead of Nacho Monreal.
RM – Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
The Ox has bags of pace and that’s one of the things Arsenal lack when he and Theo Walcott aren’t in the side.
DM – Mathieu Flamini
Flamini injects some experience and aggression into the middle of the side. His job is to break up the play before moving possession on quickly.
CM – Aaron Ramsey
Ramsey was one of the best in the business last season for providing assists and adding goals from a central midfield role. He deserves to start.
AM – Mesut Ozil
Expect to see the German slot into the number ten spot behind the main striker. His form improved towards the end of last season.
LM – Alexis Sanchez
The Chilean winger is one of Arsenal’s current targets and if they manage to sign him, he should go straight into the team.
ST – Olivier Giroud
Giroud is likely to start up front as Wenger showed plenty of faith in him last season. He can do a job for the club.
