Here’s how Arsenal’s team could look next season based on current players and potential signings.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has done well to secure two superb signings in the form of Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy ahead of the new season.
The boss has managed to ensure that the team retains its defensive stability while adding in attack, but the hard work hasn’t finished.
The Gunners still need extra players with a holding midfielder and a potential replacement for Thomas Vermaelen on the agenda.
Here’s how the side may look for next season.
GK – Wojciech Szczesny
The Pole is the rightful number one at the club. It would be a major surprise if anyone coming in replaced him.
RB – Mathieu Debuchy
The Frenchman is an experienced Premier League player and someone who will add in terms of attacking quality going forward.
CB – Per Mertesacker
Mertesacker just loves defending and he’ll get stuck in from the first second to the last. He’ll be extremely confident after a World Cup win.
CB – Laurent Koscielny
The Frenchman adds a little bit of pace into the back four and he’s a good enough player to cover multiple positions.
LB – Kieran Gibbs
Gibbs has plenty of pace over on that left and he’s well suited to providing extra width on that side.
RM – Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
The Ox didn’t play at the World Cup due to injury so he’ll be fresher as a result, which plays into Arsenal’s hands.
DM – Sven Bender
With a deal for Sami Khedira now looking unlikely, Wenger could opt to go after Borussia Dortmund’s main holding player. However, a deal could be drawn out and difficult to complete.
CM – Aaron Ramsey
Ramsey was Arsenal’s best player last season and they missed him when he wasn’t in the side. He offers a real goal threat in attack.
AM – Mesut Ozil
Ozil will definitely be better for having a season of English football under his belt. He should be confident and ready to cause any defence problems.
LM – Alexis Sanchez
Some Arsenal fans may want to see the Chilean move into a central role, but he’ll more than likely start out on the left hand side.
ST – Olivier Giroud
Love him or hate him, Giroud is likely to be the main man in attack. He showed glimpses last season that he can really dominate when he’s in top form.
