Predicted Arsenal XI for Leicester: £27m man starts, £100k-a-week ace plays first 20/21 game

Arsenal’s start to the season has been perfect – two London derbies and two wins.

Tonight they are in EFL Cup action against Leicester, another club who have made a flawless start to the campaign.

Mikel Arteta said – as per the Telegraph – he will select the ‘strongest possible team’, but that is expected to include changes from the eleven which saw off West Ham 2-1 on Saturday night.

He also spoke about £27 million (Sky Sports) William Saliba, who looks to be in line for his competitive Gunners debut here.

“William is doing really well. He is adapting to the country, to our club,” said Arteta. He is a player that is going to be really important for our future.”

David Luiz is also back fit and we’ve got him in the back three with Saliba and Rob Holding.

“He is a really good role model,” Arteta said of Luiz, who signed on for another year of his £100,000-a-week (Spotrac) contract this summer.

“For who David is as a person, a player and everything he has achieved, [Saliba and Gabriel] are lucky to have him around.”

New goalkeeper Alex Rúnarsson is another who could be in line for a debut against the Foxes tonight.

Cedric will hope for a start at right wing back, with Sead Kolasinac potentially on the left.

Bukayo Saka could play there but we’ve got him on the right of the front three, alongside fellow academy graduates Eddie Nketiah and Reece Nelson.

Mo Elneny didn’t start against West Ham so will hope to play here, with Joe Willock the most likely to partner him in the engine room.

Mateo Guendouzi and Mesut Ozil are fit to play but it would be a surprise to see Arteta hand either man a start. Either way, it will offer a glimpse into Arteta’s updated thinking on the future of the midfield duo.
