Divock Origi could quickly be overtaken at Liverpool by Dominic Solanke.

Liverpool have had a strong pre-season and look ready to go for their opening Premier League game against Watford next weekend.

One of the big winners is summer signing Dominic Solanke – who looks ready to make an instant impact for the Reds in his debut season at Anfield.

Solanke may not start opening weekend, but his emergence is putting Belgian striker Divock Origi on notice.

Origi started only 14 of the 34 Premier League games he played last season, scoring seven times.

The presence of the younger, more lively, and ascending Solanke could be a major problem for Origi, who can ill afford it.

Dominic Solanke of Liverpool scores their teams third goal during the Pre Season Friendly match between Liverpool and Athletic Club at Aviva Stadium on August 5, 2017 in Dublin, Ireland.

2017/18 is a year leading up to a World Cup, and if Origi cannot establish himself in Liverpool’s first team then he could be pushed into moving on in January in order to find regular football.

Daniel Sturridge is in the mix too, while Roberto Firmino has regularly started games up front.

Fortunately manager Jurgen Klopp has shown a willingness to keep him involved so far, and the added competition from Solanke could bring the best out of Origi.

If he can’t rise to it then his Liverpool career could be over before he knows it.
