Leeds United beat Brentford 1-0 at Elland Road today thanks to Kyle Bartley’s winner.

Leeds United’s great form continued this afternoon as they beat Brentford 1-0 at Elland Road thanks to Kyle Bartley’s late header.

The Whites had won five of their previous seven games heading into today’s clash, but looked like they were going to be frustrated against Brentford as they headed into the final five minutes deadlocked at 0-0.

Luke Ayling and Souleymane Doukara had wasted good chances to score before defender Bartley climbed highest to head home Stuart Dallas’ cross, beating goalkeeper Daniel Bentley to the ball.

With 89 minutes on the clock when Bartley headed Leeds in front, Brentford had no time to hit back, and Leeds grabbed another three points to keep their place in the top six of the Championship table.

Leeds weren’t at their best in their 1-0 win, but defender and match winner Bartley certainly impressed as fans took to Twitter to rave about the centre back at the final whistle.

Bartley, 25, is currently on a season-long loan deal from Swansea City, and supporters admitted that they are praying that the struggling Swans stay in the Premier League, so they are more willing to part with fringe defender Bartley.

Other fans urged Leeds to splash the cash in January to make sure that Bartley becomes a permanent Leeds player as soon as possible, suggesting that his signature is just as important as defensive partner Pontus Jansson’s.

Some even claimed that Bartley is a more crucial player than Jansson, whilst praising him for being ‘immense’, a great captain, and an absolute rock in the heart of the Leeds defence this season.

Here are some of the reactions from Leeds United fans after Bartley’s performance against Brentford…
