‘Pray for Norwich’: Some Arsenal fans ‘delighted’ at last night’s call on their player

Arsenal fans have expressed their delight at Bukayo Saka not being used by England on Wednesday night.

Gareth Southgate dropped the Arsenal forward to the bench yesterday, as the Three Lions recorded a 1-1 draw in Poland during their World Cup qualifier in Warsaw.

No substitutions were made by Southgate at all, and that has pleased the Arsenal faithful because it means their player is fully rested.

A certain Emile Smith Rowe has already returned early from national duty, and given how internationals can work at times, injuries can fall on top of each other at any time.

But ahead of Mikel Arteta’s crucial showdown with Norwich City on Saturday, he will have one of his star men fully energised.

Saka did start England’s 4-0 thrashing of Andorra over the weekend – he assisted and scored during that game.

Perhaps some will look at it and think Saka’s fresh legs running at the Polish defence was needed last night.

After all, he is thriving in a Three Lions shirt and is becoming popular as each game passes by.

But whilst things are rosy in the England garden, it’s not the case at club level.

Zero points and zero goals after three games says it all.

It’s a crying shame that the Gunners are relying on Saka to get them going, but they were pleased with the actions that were taken with him last night:
