Liverpool couldn’t build on last week’s win over Arsenal as they slumped to a 2-0 defeat away at Burnley on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds were lauded last week as they picked up an impressive 4-3 win over Arsenal last weekend, but much like last season, they suffered a defeat straight after a big win.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were 1-0 down early on as Welsh international striker Sam Vokes put Burnley ahead with a superb finish, and Andre Gray made it 2-0 before half time to give Liverpool a mountain to climb.
Liverpool perked up in the second half, and had a staggering 80% of possession at Turf Moor, but ultimately left empty-handed on a disappointing afternoon for Klopp.

A number of players fell flat in East Lancashire, but one player who came in for stern criticism from Liverpool fans after the game was midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, who endured a tough afternoon at Turf Moor.
Wijnaldum, a summer signing from Newcastle United, was blasted by Magpies fans last season for turning in anonymous performances away from home, and that’s just what Liverpool fans saw from the Dutchman on Saturday afternoon.
Wijnaldum struggled to get into the game and barely made any impact, yet somehow managed to stay on for the full 90 minutes – much to the annoyance of Liverpool fans.

After the game, Reds fans took to Twitter to state that manager Klopp is using Wijnaldum in the wrong position, as he should be used further forward if Liverpool are to get the best out of him.
Others simply think that Wijnaldum was a waste of money, and slammed him for his ‘practically invisible’ performance, with supporters realising just what Newcastle fans had been complaining about last season.
