On-loan striker Sam Gallagher has told the Lancashire Telegraph that the Blackburn squad felt they deserved all three points from their score-draw against Burton Albion over the weekend.

Blackburn had thought they had taken all of the spoils when the Southampton loanee struck in the 65th minute, but they were denied by a late Tom Naylor header from a Matty Palmer corner, one that left a bitter taste in the mouth of Rovers supporters.

The Blue and Whites currently sit rock bottom of the Championship, without a win to show from their opening four games of the season.

And Gallagher shares the fans’ disappointment, revealing that the Blackburn dressing room felt they deserved more from the game.

“It went from the highest high of the goal to the disappointment that we didn’t get the three points we felt we deserved.

“But there are positives we can take. Our performance was better and we showed more character than we did in the previous games.

“In that respect we are happy with the improvement but certainly not the result.

“There is disappointment in the dressing room and you can tell by the fans’ reaction that we felt we deserved the three points.

Gallagher played 90 minutes for the club after making the temporary move from the south coast earlier this month.

The Southampton youngster has seen his development stall at St Mary’s following a serious knee injury sustained during the 2014-2015 season, one that kept him out for over six months.

Coupled with the departure of Mauricio Pochettino, first team opportunities have become few and far between for the youngster, and after an unsuccessful spell at MK Dons last season, he is hoping for better this time round at Ewood Park.

He has already bettered his goal total from last season’s spell at stadium MK with his strike against Burton, after drawing a blank in all 15 of his league appearances for the Dons.
