And having teammate Fonte is a something of a boost, Cédric told Southampton’s YouTube channel.
“Jose is a player I know from the club.
“I play every day with him, I train with him, he is a fantastic human being as well.
“It is a pleasure to being play with him once again
“We have a fantastic spirit also between us two
“I know him very well on the pitch and of course this helps a lot.”
Cédric did not feature in Portugal’s 1-0 defeat to England on Thursday night, however José Fonte was called into action after starting centre-half Bruno Alves was sent off for a ludicrous challenge on Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

However, both Fonte and Cédric are expected to play crucial roles for Portugal at this summer’s tournament, providing the basis from which superstar forward Cristiano Ronaldo can shine.
Cédric joined Southampton from Sporting back in the summer of last year, and he has enjoyed a positive start to his career on the south coast, making 24 league appearances.
