Doumbia has spent the latter part of the season on loan at Newcastle United from AS Roma.
Seydou Doumbia has told bobsoccer.ru, quoted by Gazzetta dello Sport, that he hopes to return to CSKA Moscow after a miserable couple of years in Italy and later in England for Newcastle United.
Doumbia was a key player for CSKA Moscow before departing for Roma in January of last year for a fee thought to be in the region of €14.4 million, having spent five years in the Russian capital.
The Ivorian international had a stunning strike record in Russia, with 61 goals in 95 appearances, the kind of prolific form that caught the attention of the Italian giants.
And Doumbia harbours ambitions of heading back to CSKA.
“CSKA are a great club and I had some great moments in Moscow,” he said. “I am very grateful to the football club and the team, I still have many friends there and will surely one day come to join them.”
“As you know, I am still under contract with Roma,” he continued. “I hope to get myself in shape for the beginning of the season, and I want to play.
“I am certainly in good condition, at Newcastle I never played but I did train with regularity.”
Doumbia struggled to establish himself at the Stadio Olimpico after his move, making just 13 appearances towards the end of the 2014-2015 season for the Giallorossi.

He went on loan to CSKA at the start of this past season, before cutting that deal short for the chance to move to Tyneside on another short term loan.
But here again he has struggled to make an impact, making a pitiful three appearances, rendering it highly unlikely that Newcastle would consider taking up their option for a permanent move.
