Joe Garner should feature against Kilmarnock on Friday, Rangers boss Mark Warburton has told the club’s official website.

Rangers announced the deal on Saturday, with Englishman Garner signing a three year deal at Ibrox following a move the Daily Record puts at around £1.8 million.

The former Nottingham Forest, Watford and Huddersfield Town striker helped fire Preston back into the Championship in 2015, scoring an impressive 25 goals in 37 games as the Lilywhites secured promotion to England’s second tier.

Last season was less fruitful for Garner, but he had done enough to catch the eye of those over the border, and Mark Warburton now hopes his new man will feature against Kilmarnock later this week.

“Joe should be involved on Friday. Whether he starts on the bench or straight in we’ll see, but it’s important for him to settle in.

“His family are coming up; you’ve got to remember there is a lot of stuff going on off the field and it’s important we get that right and help them.

“That’s where the support network here is important, the job that the staff do in terms of making sure the family are settled – apartment, schools etc, all the things that can bother people, can bother every single person in whatever walk of life.

“So get that right and, if Joe’s ready, he’ll certainly figure.”

Garner scored his 100th career goal last season with a strike against troubled club Charlton Athletic, one of six he scored in the Championship last term.

He’ll hope to improve on that tally with his new club, who have started the new Scottish Premiership season promisingly, with back-to-back wins following their opening day draw at Hamilton leaving the Gers top of the table as things stand with 7 points.

Old Firm rivals Celtic do however have a game in hand and a 100% record so far, but Rangers will hope to end that should it continue when the two sides meet after the international break.
