Mick McCarthy is frustrated at Ipswich Town’s transfer dealings
Mick McCarthy has expressed his frustration to the East Anglian Daily Times at the club’s lack of transfer activity so far this summer.
The Tractor Boys have made just two additions during the close season, with the most notable being Adam Webster’s arrival from Portsmouth for a fee thought to be around £812,000, as cited by transfermarkt.
Ipswich have also snapped up another under-21 player midfielder in Paul Digby, who signed from Barnsley.

However with seven players departing the club in one form or another, Ipswich have sought to bolster their squad, but to little avail.
And manager McCarthy has refused to lay the blame for their inactivity at the feet of the club’s chairman Marcus Evans, attributing pre-season tours as the reason for their bad luck in the transfer market.

“There’s no update.” McCarthy said when asked about transfers. “We’re still working on it. Hopefully we’ll get something, but at the moment there’s nothing.
“We’ve tried and we just can’t do it at the moment. We’ll just keep trying. There is a bit of frustration, but it’s not through lack of trying.
“The frustration is not with the club or (owner) Marcus (Evans), it’s just the fact we can’t get anything done. A lot of it stems from the fact a lot of players are away on pre-season tours.”
McCarthy is unaware of interest being shown in Tommy Smith
The Ipswich town manager also dismissed interest being shown in Tommy Smith and Daryl Murphy, saying he has yet to receive a phone call from any club on the matter.
The Tractor Boys kick off their season on 6 August, however before they face Barnsley at Portman Road they still have pre-season fixtures against Charlton Athletic and Belgian side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.
Their most recent fixture was away to League Two side Cambridge United, where they drew 1-1.
