Wanda Nara has said that Inter Milan will sell Mauro Icardi in order to raise funds
Mauro Icardi is on the move
Mauro Icardi’s agent and partner Wanda Nara has told Italian outlet calciomercato.com in an interview that Inter Milan are going to sell the player this summer.
Nara cited the club’s financial situation as the reason why Icardi is set to depart the San Siro, pointing out that there is strong interest in the striker, with calciomercato claiming Tottenham Hotspur are one of the interested parties.
Icardi signed a new deal with Inter as recently as last year, however, it appears that his future may now lie away from the San Siro, after Nara’s strong words regarding the striker’s future.
Icardi signed a new contract last year
“From what I can see, Inter have put Icardi up for sale.” Nara told the Italian outlet. “There are many clubs interested. We will evaluate the situation with all due respect for everyone.
“Mauro would be very sad to leave Inter, but we’ve understood the club’s economic situation and evidently they cannot hold Icardi back.
“There is no release clause in his contract and we hope Inter won’t ask for a sum that is outside the market value, but rather suited to his contract.”
Spurs are rumoured to be in the running for Icardi
The Inter captain was his club’s top scorer last season, netting 16 goals in Serie A, and he would be an exciting addition to the Premier League were he to arrive.
He has been linked with a number of clubs in recent times, however, calciomercato.com cite Spurs and Atletico Madrid as two likely front-runners following Icardi’s sudden availability.
Spurs are thought to be closing in on a deal for AZ Alkmaar striker Vincent Janssen, for a fee the Daily Mail tout to be £17 million.
Vincent Janssen is set to sign for Spurs
The Dutchman had a prolific campaign in the Eredivisie, netting 21 goals in just 17 games.
And with Icardi now apparently back on the market, it remains to be seen as to whether Spurs will opt to sign another forward should Janssen arrive as expected in the coming days.
