Highly rated Danish defender Andreas Christensen is currently on a two-year loan at Borussia Monchengladbach.
Christensen (R) is wanted permanently by Gladbach
Borussia Monchengladbach are willing to break their transfer record to sign loanee Andreas Christensen from Chelsea, their Sporting Director Max Eberl told Sports Bild.
Christensen is currently half way through a two-year loan deal at the Bundesliga club, and he has certainly made an impression, winning the club’s Player of the Year award ahead of new Arsenal signing Granit Xhaka.
Christensen made 31 league appearances last season for Gladbach, as well as five appearances in the Champions League.

He has become an essential cog in the Gladbach wheel, helping the club to another top four finish, ensuring Die Fohlen will have another stint in the Champions League next term.
And Gladbach are keen to make Christensen’s switch permanent.

“We only give the money out, which we did,” Eberl said. “But in the case of Christensen we are ready to make a record transfer.
“We know that a player with his quality is not cheap. The rumoured release demand of 20 million euros (£15.4m) for Andreas is wrong. There is no fixed amount.”
Christensen arrived at the Bridge under AVB
The young Chelsea defender, who is only 20, has already made six appearances for the Danish national side – five more appearances than he has made for Chelsea.
Christensen joined the Blues on a free transfer from Brøndby in 2012 under the tenure of Andre Villas-Boas, and despite appearing on a number of occasions in the League Cup, he has as yet been unable to force his way into the first-team plans of any Chelsea manager.
