Olivier Giroud has been linked with a move to Napoli, with reports touting a possible swap deal for Gonzalo Higuain.
Italy bound? France’s Olivier Giroud
Olivier Giroud’s agent Mickael Manuello is quoted as saying by Gazzetta dello Sport on Neapolitan Radio CRC that there is “no fear” in the Frenchman making a switch to Napoli, amid reports he could be used in swap deal for hitman Gonzalo Higuain.
Sky Sports Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reported yesterday that Arsenal are pursuing the Argentina international, who scored an impressive 36 goals in 35 games last season, and that they could be willing to use in Giroud in a part-exchange.
And now the French international striker’s agent has talked up a move to Napoli, saying Giroud would have no objection to a Naples switch, as well as suggesting Giroud would benefit from being coach by Maurizio Sarri.
Could Higuain be swapped with Giroud?
“At the moment, Giroud is an Arsenal player,” Mickael Manuello told Radio CRC.
“If he was asked to leave, then we would evaluate our options.
“There is no fear in Olivier possibly going to Napoli, it is a magnificent city. In Campania, my client could lead a wonderful life, not to mention that the type of game orchestrated by Napoli coach [Maurizio] Sarri could enhance the quality of a centre-forward like him.”
Giroud scored 24 goals for Arsenal last term
Giroud has played an integral role in France’s run to the European Championship final this summer, scoring three goals with two assists, making him the joint second highest scorer at the tournament and securing him the bronze boot.
The former Montpellier striker, who earned a move to Arsenal off the back of their stunning title success in 2012 – a season in which he was top scorer with 21 goals – scored 24 times for the Gunners in all competitions last term.
