Hull City v Leicester City - Premier LeagueDouble trouble: Hernandez and Diomande strike for Hull’s opening goal against Leicester

Hull City forward Adama Diomande has insisted to the club’s official website that he will not fall out with teammate Abel Hernandez over who scored the Tigers’ opening goal against Leicester City.

In somewhat unusual circumstances, both Diomande and Hernandez appeared to strike the ball after Hernandez had brought it under control, scoring what has been dubbed a ‘dual bicycle kick’.

The goal was originally awarded to Uruguayan forward Abel Hernandez, who was the club’s top scorer last season with 24 goals in all competitions.

However, shortly afterwards, the goal was taken away from Hull’s leading man and handed to Diomande, who appears to touch the ball last before it went on to hit Kasper Schmeichel’s net.

But Diomande has said that in the end, he was just happy that the ball went in regardless.

“We both went for the ball and hit it at the same time,” he said.

“At the time, we didn’t really know who had scored it but afterwards people were saying it was me.

“I was just happy that we got it in the net between us. We’re not going to argue over it!”

Hull managed an unexpected win in their season opener against Leicester City, with the Tigers defeating the Foxes 2-1.

The home side took the lead through that now famous Diomande-Hernandez strike, before Riyad Mahrez leveled from the spot straight after half time.

Hull were aggrieved at Mike Dean’s decision to award the penalty, as it appeared the offence was committed outside of the penalty area, however, Robert Snodgrass popped up with a thunderous drive to ensure that the three points would be staying at the KCOM stadium.
