Sam Allardyce has expressed his delight at the news that Patrick van Aanholt has signed a new four-year contract at Sunderland, telling the club’s official website that the Dutchman is fantastic.
Van Aanholt has been an ever-present figure at Sunderland since arriving on Wearside two years ago, making the switch following six years on the books at Chelsea.
And he played a key role for Sunderland in their fight for Premier League survival last season, even adding what have proved to be vital goals to his game, a point picked up by Allardyce.
The Black Cats boss told the club’s official website that his performances were integral to why Sunderland were ultimately able to stave off relegation.
