Ryan Edmondson has left Leeds United on loan for the third time in 12 months, and you have to feel that this is his last chance to prove himself at Elland Road.
Once upon a time, Edmondson was seen as the next big thing at Leeds. He made his debut in the league as a 16-year-old back in 2018, and he was a star in the PDL National Title winning side in 2019, netting 20 goals for the U23s, despite only being 17 years old for the majority of the campaign.

Sadly, since then Edmondson hasn’t really kicked on. Bielsa hasn’t used him since 2018, while he’s only scored four league goals in 34 appearances in two loan spells in 2020/21.
It’s been reported in the past that the striker dubbed as ‘powerful’ doesn’t have much of a future at Leeds, but he’s still on the books to this day, and he has been given another chance to prove himself out on loan, joining Fleetwood for the 2021/22 campaign.
Given that Edmondson has been on the periphery at Leeds for a number of years and the fact that Sam Greenwood and Joe Gelhardt have taken his place as the U23s’ main man, you have to feel that this loan spell is Edmondson’s last chance to prove to Bielsa that he’s capable of contributing at Leeds.
If he goes to Fleetwood and nets a bagful there’s every chance that he’ll be given a shot at Leeds, but with Edmondson struggling to live up to his potential thus far, it’s hard to imagine that he’ll get another chance if he flounders at the Cod Army.
Edmondson is in the last-chance saloon at Leeds, and he needs to make sure he grabs this opportunity with both hands.
