Stephen Warnock has suggested that Arsenal would become more ‘powerful’ if they had Newcastle United duo Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton in their midfield.
The former Premier League defender was praising Martin Odegaard for his performance at Newcastle on Sunday and how the Arsenal captain is ‘difficult to pick up’.
Well, Warnock thinks if you added the brute power of Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton behind the 15-goal Premier League midfielder, then it would take Mikel Arteta’s side to another level.

One of the main reasons why Eddie Howe and his players are heading towards the Champions League next season is because of how their midfield has performed.
For Alan Shearer, he feels Guimaraes is in with a shout of being the club’s Player of the Season, then there is Joelinton, who after a rocky start, is now starting to cook – Shearer also shared how he felt the striker-turned-midfielder was ‘unfairly’ treated under Steve Bruce.
But Odegaard’s brilliance over the weekend outshone Newcastle’s midfield, with Warnock lauding the Arsenal star, as he told The Football Show on Sky Sports.
“I thought the key battles were going to be in midfield,” said Warnock. “The one thing that changed the game, if you look at all the chances, was that one moment of brilliance from Odegaard.
“Newcastle were so powerful in midfield with Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes, the way they close down.
“If you gave Arsenal those two players holding and put Odegaard ahead of them, then you have got some midfield because of the way those two overpower people.
“But Odegaard has just got the finesse and that ability to pick up pockets of space where you just, he is so difficult to pick up and to pin down in a game.”

ARSENAL TO UPGRADE MIDFIELD?
There is talk that Granit Xhaka could be heading back to Germany in the summer, if that’s the case, then a big name will need to be brought in.
Even with Xhaka in the building, there is a suggestion that Arsenal’s midfield needs to be taken to the next level.
West Ham United captain Declan Rice has long been mentioned to swap East London for north London, but could the possible transfer fee on his head be off-putting for those at the Emirates?
