One of Power Slap’s leading names is considering stepping away from the sport.

Dana White appears eager to bring in fresh faces to strengthen the organisation’s roster and keep building its talent base.

The format has certainly caught attention, especially through social media clips highlighting standout moments from events.

Still, there have been plenty of concerns raised about the safety risks involved, particularly since athletes can’t defend themselves from blows.

One competitor has spoken about how she’s taking steps on her own to make sure she stays healthy enough to compete in combat sports long-term.

Sheena Bathory putting health first ahead of Power Slap and MMA schedule

Sheena Bathory is already thinking ahead to her next move while continuing to build momentum in Power Slap.

Going by Franciska Szabo, she’s also recently joined Brave CF, the same organisation where Muhammad Mokaev clinched the flyweight title just last Friday.

That same night at Brave 100 in Bahrain, she spoke with Bloody Elbow about what’s coming next in her career.

“Currently I’m looking for a title fight in Power Slap, I already called out another great fighter and I think we can go for a title fight and after, I think if I’m going to end up at 6-0 with a title in my pocket, I think I’ll be ready to say goodbye to Power Slap and just focus on my MMA career.”

Bathory went on to discuss how she manages the potential long-term effects of competing in Power Slap as she prepares for her shift towards MMA.

Known as ‘The Hungarian Hurricane’, she understands the importance of giving herself plenty of time between matches. The goal is to avoid any lingering injuries that could affect her future plans.

“In Power Slap, definitely the impact is more on the brain. That’s why I told Power Slap that I want to it do no more than once every half year because I want to take a rest for my brain. In MMA, I also get a couple of shots but you also still get a chance to defend so the impact is not as heavy as in Power Slap. I still love it though but I’m planning to compete in sports long-term so I need to hold myself back sometimes.”

Sheena Bathory ready to move on after reaching her goals in Power Slap

Sheena Bathory is still eyeing a title shot in Power Slap, but she already feels like she’s achieved most of what the sport has to offer.

Lifting a belt would be the final goal before she shifts her attention fully to MMA and Brave CF.

Bathory told Bloody Elbow that despite her unbeaten record, she’s also experienced the other side of the sport with a knockout loss that was later overturned.

“I’ve experienced everything in Power Slap because I’ve knocked people out and even though I have a 5-0 record, I also got knocked out but my opponent got disqualified because she clubbed my neck. I’ve experienced how it feels to be knocked out but it put me on a different level because I never want to get f—— knocked out again.”
