Graham Potter ‘would love’ to have a reported Liverpool target at Chelsea.
At least, that’s the view of football journalist Pete O’Rourke who told Give Me Sport that the newly-appointed Chelsea manager would be delighted to bring Moises Caicedo to Stamford Bridge.
Potter managed the Ecuador international at Brighton & Hove Albion and in late August, it was reported that Liverpool were readying a £42 million offer.
Nothing ever materialised and the Reds wound up signing Arthur Melo on loan from Juventus instead.
However, Liverpool still desperately need to revamp their midfield options and renewed interest in Caicedo is logical.
But according to O’Rourke, Chelsea could well seriously be in the mix.
He said: “Chelsea are looking to freshen things up. Caicedo has proven that he has got the qualities to be a top midfield player, and I’m sure Graham Potter would love to be reunited with him.”
Liverpool are well and truly beaten for Caicedo, it seems.
That’s because the player himself even admitted on Thursday that it would be a dream of his to play for the West Londoners.
And the fact that Potter, his old manager, is there now is likely to only enhance his desire to one day sign for Chelsea.
There’s a lot more fish in the sea for Jurgen Klopp and Fenway Sports Group, however, but it would hurt if Caicedo wound up proving himself a stellar Premier League star under Potter with their rivals.
