West Bromwich Albion were linked with a move for Ryan Woods last month, and now a report has cast doubt over his Brentford future.
According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (22/07; page 58), Ryan Woods could prove to be the next Brentford player to leave Griffin Park this summer amid growing Championship interest – and that may perhaps alert West Brom given reports last month.
Birmingham Live suggested in June that the Baggies were eyeing a bid for the £6 million-rated Woods, who has been superb since joining the Bees.
The Sun on Sunday (22/07; page 58) is now suggesting that his departure could soon be on the cards, with the midfielder potentially following John Egan and Florian Jozefzoon out of the door. The report does not suggest where he may be going.
The suggestion that Woods could be about to leave should certainly alert Darren Moore if the Baggies are not the ones leading the charge for his signature.
Of course, the report could have come about because West Brom are stepping up their own efforts to land the playmaker, but if it is not Moore’s men out in front, then the report should act as a potential warning.
The 24-year-old is arguably one of the best midfielders in the second tier. He is superb on the ball and his passing ability is virtually unrivalled in the division.
If West Brom can get him in this summer, then they will surely boost their promotion hopes significantly. And it appears that a resolution on his future may perhaps not be too far away.
