Aston Villa have been linked with Kalvin Phillips, Lewis Dunk and Tyrone Mings this summer, with Dean Smith looking to make improvements.

If Aston Villa sign Lewis Dunk, Tyrone Mings and Kalvin Phillips this summer then they will have a rock solid unit to defend with, even at the top level.
Villa’s promotion to the top flight has seen Dean Smith’s side go to work on renovating several areas of their side.
Villa’s initial work has been to improve their attack, with Wesley Moraes, Jota and and Anwar El Ghazi all arriving.
It seems likely that Smith’s side will now turn their attentions to making defensive additons, and they have some very appealing targets.
The Sun claim Villa want Dunk, Mings is a well known target as reported by the Birmingham Mail, and the Telegraph claim that Villa are eager to snap up Phillips from Leeds United.

If Villa get their trio of targets, then Smith’s men will have a rock solid foundation to build around this season.
Dunk and Mings would dominate aerially, and they are also players who thrive off putting their bodies on the line for the side.
Phillips, meanwhile, is arguably the toughest tackling midfielder in the Championship as things stand.
Phillips would bring presence and power to Villa’s midfield, and his shielding ability would allow the claret and blues more creative options to flourish.
Villa’s transfer plans look hugely exciting, and if they can bring in Smith’s defensive targets then no team in the Premier League is going to find them easy to break down.
