Tottenham Hotspur are considering bringing back Fernando Llorente, report The Guardian.
Llorente is a free agent, and if he would agree to reduced terms, Spurs are open to it.
The Spaniard really proved his worth in the second half of last season when Harry Kane was injured.
And for one more season, bringing Llorente back wouldn’t hurt.
Remarkably, it would probably be quite a popular move too.
But it would be fairly uninspiring.
Spurs have known about Llorente’s impending exit for a long time.
And the first 18 months of his two years at Spurs were fairly awful.
Surely during this time, Tottenham had come up with an alternative plan to back up Harry Kane?
Kane’s repeated ankle injuries show that a back up striker is needed more than ever.
Bringing Llorente back for another year is only a sticking plaster solution for a situation which needs a longer term fix.
Spurs should be looking for a young striker who can compete with Kane and back him up.
Even if they sign Llorente, this shouldn’t change.
