If rumours are to be believed, Rangers might well be about to re-sign Steven Davis.

The Belfast Telegraph reported this week that Rangers look ‘certain’ to bring Davis back to Ibrox in January after falling out of favour at Southampton.

Gers fans would love the 33-year-old at Ibrox after the Northern Ireland international won eight major titles – including three Scottish Premiership crowns – in Glasgow.

And what a commitment it would be from the player if it does materialise.

This is a player who earns £60,000 per week with the Premier League side [Spotrac] but surely a wage cut would be on the cards if he re-signs for Rangers.

Davis could easily demand a two-and-a-half year contract, which would equate to a salary commitment of around £7.2 million by the Scottish giants.

That’s huge money and it’s unlikely to be feasible, but a drop in salary would underline his desire to join Steven Gerrard’s revolution and that in itself is very exciting.
