There have been a lot of attack-minded players linked with Tottenham Hotspur, but will the club do any business from a defensive standpoint before deadline day?

When Eric Dier first joined Tottenham Hotspur, he arrived as an unknown figure, but his early performances saw him win plaudits and eventually an England call-up.
But it is fair to say that in recent seasons, his form has stagnated and he is now no longer a regular member of Mauricio Pochettino’s starting XI. But could he soon be replaced?
German outlet Bild claims that Tottenham are interested in signing Borussia Monchengladbach’s Matthias Ginter.
Ginter is a versatile player, he can deploy a defensive-minded midfield role, centre-back role and can play at right-back if need be – similar roles in which Dier can deploy.
Added with Dier’s recent form, the rise of Moussa Sissoko and signing of Tanguy Ndombele if Ginter also joins Spurs then it surely would signal the end of the Englishman’s career at the club.

The Evening Standard claimed in May that Spurs have put a number of players up for sale this summer, including Dier.
Deadline day is edging ever closer and if Spurs are to conclude a deal for Ginter then they will have to do it fast.
If he were to sign then he would be a very useful addition to Pochettino’s set-up because from a defensive standpoint he reads the game really well, is technically strong and has that experience of playing at the top level.
