Leeds United are closing in on a deal for Inter Milan youngster Facundo Colidio, Di Marzio reported yesterday.

It’s an encouraging development as Leeds chase attacking reinforcements before the transfer deadline.

Colidio, 19, in his own words described last year how his versatility is one of his assets.

This is encouraging from Leeds’ perspective, given manager Marcelo Bielsa’s proven track record of developing young players.

Colidio told Argentine newspaper Clarin: “I can play as 9, with two strikers or outside (in a three).”

He added that the switch to Serie A had been an adjustment: “In Italy you have to move, whether you like it or not. Here I have to do twice what I was doing in Argentina.”

It’s fair to assume that a switch to Leeds would see Colidio have to up his work rate further to meet Bielsa’s standards.

Colidio also said that he was welcomed at Inter and helped settle by one of Bielsa’s former players, Javier Zanetti.

If Leeds do move for Colidio, his willingness to play in varying attacking roles is a big plus.

Bielsa is famed for his attacking fluidity, and he could help mould the teenager into the player he wants.
