Danny Rose’s potential move could be a double blow for Cameron Borthwick-Jackson.
Whilst Leeds United fans will be focusing on potential incomings at Elland Road ahead of the January transfer window, club officials may be keeping one eye on a potential Premier League transfer.
The Whites need new faces in January, and they could be handed something of cash boost if Danny Rose leaves Tottenham Hotspur during the upcoming transfer window.
Leeds sold Rose to Tottenham for £1million back in 2007, and more than 10 years on, Rose could be on the verge of a £50million move, with the Daily Mail reporting that Manchester United are confident of sealing such a deal in January.
Leeds will be keeping close tabs on that situation, given that Leeds Live report that the Whites have a 10% sell-on clause on any profit Tottenham make, meaning a £50milion deal would give Leeds a £4.9million windfall.
That would be considered as great news for Leeds, but one Whites player won’t be too impressed, as it would serve as something of a double-whammy for summer signing Cameron Borthwick-Jackson.
Borthwick-Jackson joined Leeds on loan from Manchester United over the summer with the intention of playing games and developing away from Old Trafford, but he has played just one Championship game in a dismal season.
Left back is the one of the main positions that Leeds need to strengthen in January, and with Borthwick-Jackson clearly unfancied by manager Thomas Christiansen, conventional logic may suggest that such a windfall could be spent on a new left back – pushing Borthwick-Jackson even further down the pecking order.
Add in that Rose heading to United would add another block to Borthwick-Jackson’s hopes of first-team football with the Red Devils further down the line, and it’s clear that Rose’s potential move to Old Trafford could be a nightmare for Borthwick-Jackson’s hopes with both of the clubs he is tied to.
