Some Arsenal fans on Twitter are reacting to seeing Tim Akinola in Mikel Arteta’s first-team training session on Thursday.
With so many of Arsenal’s heavy hitters away on international duty, Arteta has promoted some youngsters to his sessions at London Colney.
And among them was Akinola, who joined the Gunners from Huddersfield Town during the summer of 2020.
Fans of the North London club haven’t seen him in action due to the fact that he hasn’t yet made a senior debut under the Spanish coach.
But his promotion to senior training represented a chance to impress Arteta at close quarters nonetheless.

Debut this season?
In a word, no.
Well, never say never, but Arsenal are using their big guns in the League Cup and therefore Akinola won’t get a look-in against Leeds United on the 26th of this month.
But Arteta’s side could potentially draw a lower-league club in the FA Cup in January that could represent a potential debut opportunity for the young midfielder, depending on who the team is.
Realisticlly though, the Emirates Stadium side should loan him out at the first possible opportunity.
At his age, he needs regular football every weekend and that’s what a loan could offer him.
