Potential good news for Everton as PSG opt for Tuchel over Fonseca

PSG turn attention away from Shakhtar Donetsk manager Paulo Fonseca to Thomas Tuchel – which could be good news for Everton.

Paris Saint-Germain will appoint Thomas Tuchel as their new manager after Unai Emery leaves the club when his contract expires at the end of June, reports ESPN.

Tuchel has been without a job since leaving Borussia Dortmund last summer and despite PSG chairman Nasser al Khelaifi contacting Chelsea boss Antonio Conte over a potential move, the club owners have opted for the German.

How this could help Everton

There were several high profile names being touted as Emery’s possible successor, with Conte joined by Massimiliano Allegri, Carlo Ancelotti and Luis Enrique on the shortlist.

Al Khelaifi clearly favoured Conte, while the French giants’ sporting director Antero Henrique wanted fellow Portugueses Paulo Fonseca or Leonardo Jardim.

The club owners overruled both men in favour of Tuchel and it is the dismissal of the idea of hiring Fonseca that could work to Everton’s benefit in the long run.

That is because, as the Liverpool Echo reports, the Toffees are considering the current Shakhtar Donetsk boss a replacement for Sam Allardyce should they sack the Englishman this summer.
