It’s been a pretty poor season for Arsenal, all things considered – well, domestically at least.
The Gunners are 10th in the Premier League table and after winning the FA Cup last August, a serious top-four challenge was the goal for Mikel Arteta in his first full season as head coach.
But it hasn’t worked out like that at all and one major problem for Arsenal has been a lack of goals.
Their defence is okay – only two teams have conceded less goals than them – but Arteta’s side have only scored 34 in 26 games at the other end.
Attacking players should be the order of the day for Edu this summer – and if two transfer rumours materialise, the North Londoners might just fare better in their top-four bid next term.
Calciomercato reported this week that Andre Silva is on the Emirates Stadium club’s radar, while Ian McGarry revealed that they have also touched base with Celtic over recruiting Odsonne Edouard.
With Alexandre Lacazette likely to leave and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang turning 32 in June, it isn’t unthinkable for Edu to sign two strikers during the summer and these two would give Arteta a lot of added firepower.
They have scored a total of 40 goals between them this season – 20 apiece – from a combined 55 games across all competitions.
And with supporting players like Saka, Nicolas Pepe and potentially Martin Odegaard, that’s a lot of service they could feed off.
It isn’t an exact science, but we do know a lack of goals has hindered Arsenal more than anything this season and maybe these two are viable solutions.
