Are West Ham United going to sign another top striker this summer?
According to The Star, West Ham United are ‘confident’ about bringing Moussa Marega to East London.
Foot Mercato in France reported on Friday that the Irons were willing to pay his £27 million release clause from Porto.
And now West Ham seemingly believe that they can get a deal done.
Manuel Pellegrini has already signed Sebastien Haller in a club-record £45 million deal and giving him Marega as a potential strike partner is so very exciting for the club.
The 28-year-old has scored 33 goals in 58 league games for the Portuguese giants [Foot Mercato]. This is a player who, along with Haller, can help to take West Ham to a new level.
If those two are the replacements for Andy Carroll and Marko Arnautovic then to call them ‘upgrades’ seems to do the word itself little justice.
Even if Pellegrini doesn’t play them both up front at the same time, what depth the Chilean manager has at his disposal next season.
West Ham, who finished tenth in Pellegrini’s first season, only managed to score 52 Premier League goals last term. It wasn’t a great return, but if Marega joins Haller in the capital then Pellegrini – who has also signed a playmaker of Pablo Fornals’ talents – should expect much more goals this season.
