Celtic badly need new central defenders and they reportedly have their eye on a couple.

Manager of Celtic Brendan Rodgers looks on during the Betfred Cup Semi-Final at Hampden Park on October 21, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Celtic have their eye on a few defenders it seems before Friday’s deadline.

According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic want to sign Le Havre centre-back Harold Moukoudi, who was linked with West Ham United during the summer.

In addition to that, the Hoops also want Groningen ace Samir Memisevic [Fokus].

Getting both over the line before Friday might be a bit ambitious, but it would be so very worth it.

With or without the linked-away Dedryck Boyata, Brendan Rodgers badly needs new central defenders and two of that calibre would transform the Hoops.

If Boyata does leave then Kristoffer Ajer is the only reliable centre-back that Rodgers has.

Jozo Simunovic is prone to a moment of madness, Jack Hendry has a long way to go before he’s ready to be a big player for the Bhoys, while nobody knows much about Marvin Compper.

The Northern Irish manager started out the season playing three at the back, meaning that Moukoudi, a France Under-20 international, and Bosnian stalwart Memisevic could line up alongside Ajer for much of this season if Rodgers gets both.

That’s a far more attractive combination of defenders than anything Rodgers can muster if Boyata jumps ship and although a double transfer might be tough, it has to be done.
