Are Everton safe from enquiries about Jordan Pickford from Manchester United for now?

According to BBC Sport, Manchester United will trigger a one-year extension in David de Gea’s contract – and it could be good news for Everton.
The Spain international, one of the world’s finest goalkeepers, is contracted to Old Trafford until next summer.
But, according to BBC Sport, the Red Devils will activate a clause which ties him down until 2020 to keep him from signing a pre-contract agreement elsewhere from January 1.
It’s a smart move by United and one that lessens the urgency to sign Everton keeper Jordan Pickford.

The Mirror reported earlier this month that Jose Mourinho had identified the Toffees star as De Gea’s replacement, should he leave the Theatre of Dreams.
But giving De Gea a one-year extension would not make Pickford a priority and therefore the Everton man is unlikely to be courted over the next couple of transfer windows.
That might not be the case long term, because De Gea, who earns £200,000 [Total Sportek], would still be out of contract in 2020 unless another agreement was made.
But the Goodison Park faithful have little reason to worry…..for now at least.
