Celtic have potentially missed out on a bargain deal as Ipswich Town’s talented youngster Dylan Crowe has penned a new three-year deal at Portman Road, East Anglian Daily Times report.

The report claims Crowe has signed a new contract to end speculation over his future. Celtic, Brighton and Huddersfield are cited as three clubs who were keen on signing the England youth international.

A previous report in the Daily Mail last month also named Celtic alongside RB Leipzig as suitors, with Crowe’s contract expiring this summer allowing foreign clubs to sign him without paying a compensation figure.

Ipswich were left in a precarious situation, and they were in danger of following in Charlton Athletic’s footsteps as the Addicks missed out on a compensation fee for top talent Joe Aribo who joined Celtic’s rivals Rangers for free.

Crowe, 18, can play at either right-back or right midfield. He hasn’t featured for the Ipswich first team largely due to injuries last season, but his raw ability is evident for all to see and he has a big future ahead of him.

The Tractor Boys will be looking to bounce back from their relegation from the Championship and League One football could allow the club’s younger players to break through without too much pressure.

Ipswich have high hopes for Crowe and they only need to look at rivals Norwich City with Max Aarons, Jamal Lewis and Ben Godfrey for reason to place faith in their highly rated academy stars.

Crowe’s new deal will see him remain at Portman Road until 2022 while the Tractor Boys reportedly hold the option of extending for a further year.
