Southampton are reportedly keen on signing the Genk ace.

According to the Daily Mail, Southampton are preparing a £10million bid for Genk defender Joakim Maehle before Thursday’s transfer deadline, and should Ralph Hasenhütll manage to get a deal for the Dane over the line, it could turn out to be excellent business for the south coast club.
Cedric Soares has recently left St Mary’s, joining Inter Milan on loan, so the 21-year-old would have big shoes to fill, but he is more than capable of doing just that.
Maehle is a wonderfully exciting young talent, and he is well-renowned for being an incredibly attacking full-back.
He would offer Southampton just as much defensively as Cedric did, given his tenacious playing style, but he is arguably better in the final third.
The 21-year-old certainly has a better end product in his locker than the 27-year-old Portugal international, and the only real concern for the Saints will be whether he can adapt quickly to the Premier League.

He is certainly fit and strong enough for that not to be a problem, however.
In today’s day and age, £10 million for a player with Maehle’s potential surely must be considered as decent value for money, and he could go on to be a real star at Southampton under the guidance of Hasenhüttl.
