Some Liverpool fans on social media have been reacting after Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Roberto Firmino picked up a serious hamstring injury against Atletico Madrid.
“Bobby is not good news with a serious hamstring injury, really unfortunate. We don’t know exactly how long he will be out but it will be not now after the international break directly. We have to work on that,” Klopp said.
As you can imagine, Reds supporters are gutted to hear that the striker will be out of action for a little while.
We don’t know how long Firmino will be out for, but everyone will surely be hoping that he’s back before the start of the African Cup of Nations as the Reds will need all of the firepower they can get when Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah head off for international duty.
Injury woes are nothing new for Liverpool. Let’s not forget just how unfortunate the Reds were last season, but that doesn’t make this type of news any less painful.
Firmino had been in fine fettle as of late as well. He netted a hat-trick against Watford last month, but it seems as though he won’t be able to build on his recent good form.
