The 52-year-old was reported to have thrown his hat in the ring for the Rangers job, more than two weeks after Pedro Caixinha left Ibrox.

Ange Postecoglou has been talked up for the Rangers job by a manager who was linked with a move to Ibrox earlier this year.
Postecoglou was reported to have thrown his hat into the ring to succeed Pedro Caixinha in Glasgow, but has since distanced himself from the role.
The Australian national team coach is due to oversee the first of his country’s World Cup play-off fixtures against Honduras this evening [Friday], ahead of his contract expiring next week.
But even if the Socceroos fail to qualify, Kevin Muscat has told the Scottish Sun that Rangers should still consider hiring Postecoglou.
“I can see why Rangers are interested in Ange without a doubt,” said the former Rangers and Australia defender. “It’s like anything. If you’re analysing players, you don’t go and look back on the last game.

“You look at what Ange has done and the way he’s transformed the way a lot of coaches and players and us in football think over the last years.
“And you see what he’s done in terms of the way we play as a national team, and the genuine respect we get from football people abroad.
“There seems to be a lot of hollow support from within our own country.”
Despite Muscat’s comments, there appears to be little chance of Postecoglou landing the Rangers job regardless of his fate.

The 52-year-old is not even listed as a contender with most bookmakers, with even Muscat – the current Melbourne Victory coach – at 50/1 on Sky Bet.
The 44-year-old spent a season at Ibrox in the early 2000s, either side of spells at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Millwall.
