Garth Crooks has raved about Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder James Maddison and believes that Spurs have now finally found the perfect replacement for Christian Eriksen, who is now at Manchester United.
The former Spurs forward has included Tottenham Hotspur playmaker James Maddison in his BBC Premier League Team of the Week.
Maddison, who joined Tottenham from Leicester City in the summer transfer window, scored for Ange Postecoglou’s side in their win against Burnley away from home at Turf Moor in the Premier League this past weekend.
Crooks was impressed by the display produced by the 26-year-old, and he believes that Tottenham have now finally replaced Christian Eriksen.
James Maddison has replaced Christian Eriksen at Tottenham Hotspur
Danish playmaker Eriksen, now at Manchester United, was the main creative outlet for Tottenham.
And Spurs struggled after he left.
But now Tottenham have finally replaced Eriksen, according to Crooks.
Crooks wrote on BBC Sport: “At last, Spurs look like they have found a player who can handle the ball in midfield again.
“Under Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte they struggled to find someone who could make others around him play and unlock defences.
“Not since Christian Eriksen have Spurs had a player of that calibre. The introduction of Maddison seems to have Tottenham playing in a way their two previous managers could not.”

Maddison has hit the ground running at Tottenham and has already made himself a huge figure in the team.
The England international attacking midfielder is now the main creative outlet for Spurs.
Maddison is a very intelligent player who plays very good forward passes and is able to score himself.
The 26-year-old has scored two goals and given two assists in four Premier League appearances for Tottenham so far this season.
Tottenham are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.
For that quest to be successful, Maddison will have to be on top of his game throughout.
