Tottenham Hotspur are nearing a deal for Hajduk Split defender Luka Vuskovic after Ange Postecoglou missed out on his brother at Celtic.
Luka Vuskovic is poised to become a Tottenham Hotspur player with a move from Hajduk Split expected very soon.
Fabrizio Romano broke the news on Sunday night, reporting that Tottenham were ‘on the verge’ of signing Vuskovic.
The 16-year-old is expected to sign for Tottenham imminently despite the fact that he can’t actually play for Spurs until 2025.
90Min add that Spurs will be striking a deal worth around £13million for Vuskovic and that the teenager has picked Tottenham as his next club.
Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Bayern Munich all wanted Vuskovic but it’s Tottenham who will win the race.
Another Croatian star heading for North London
Croatian players have been pretty popular at Tottenham over the years.
The mind immediately goes to Luka Modric with the Ballon d’Or winner becoming a star during his time at Tottenham.
Croatian International regulars Vedran Corluka, Niko Kranjcar and Stipe Pletikosa all passed through Tottenham over the years too.
Spurs now have Ivan Perisic in their ranks and Vuskovic will follow in the footsteps of his compatriots – when he is finally allowed to play, that is.
Ange Postecoglou finally set to sign a Vuskovic
Tottenham fans will expect Ange Postecoglou to still be in charge when Vuskovic arrives in 2025.
You never know in football but Spurs supporters are loving Postecoglou and will hope that he remains in charge for a while yet.
Postecoglou will certainly hope to have the chance to develop Vuskovic – especially having missed out on his brother just a couple of years ago.
Mario Vuskovic was a top Celtic target in Postecoglou’s first summer transfer window as Bhoys boss.
Talks were held over a £5million deal but Vuskovic ended up leaving Hajduk Split for German side Hamburg instead.
Bild reported that Celtic did make a bid for Vuskovic but Hajduk rejected the deal, with the defender indicating that he snubbed Celtic in a belief that Hamburg are a huge club with some Croatian success stories in recent memory.
Postecoglou missed out on Vuskovic and instead signed Cameron Carter-Vickers – ironically, from Tottenham!
Two years on, Postecoglou is finally about sign a Vuskovic after all – and this one appears to have even more potential.
