Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou claims the club will look to make a couple of defensive additions in the coming days.
Spurs haven’t yet completed the signing of Micky van de Ven but he could be part of a double swoop this week.
Ange Postecoglou has told Football London that the deal to sign Wolfsburg defender Van de Ven is ‘not done yet’.
Dutchman Van de Ven was in the stands to watch Tottenham beat Shakhtar Donetsk 5-1 in a pre-season friendly this afternoon.
Van de Ven is poised to complete a move from Wolfsburg, believed to be worth up to £43million.
That will give Tottenham a naturally left-sided centre back but Postecoglou did point out that the deal is not completely sorted just yet.
However, Postecoglou did accept that Tottenham need defensive additions though and highlighted that he wants aggressive defenders who can also showed off recovery speed.
Postecoglou even noted that Tottenham will now be looking to sign ‘a couple’ of defenders in the next couple of days.
“Well like you said it hasn’t been done yet so it’s not right for me to talk about but there’s no doubt we need some bolstering in that central defensive area. We’re looking for players that can play the kind of football we want,” said Postecoglou on Van de Ven.
“We need defenders who are going to be able to work in an aggressive formation, be able to defend really well one vs one and the space in behind. Hopefully we’ll get one or two done in the next couple of days to bolster us in that area,” he added.

Who else could Tottenham sign alongside Micky van de Ven?
Tottenham did sign a centre back over the weekend with Blackburn Rovers teenager Ashley Phillips arriving.
Phillips is one for the future though and may even go out on loan to further his development.
Postecoglou clearly sees the situation as Van de Ven plus one more centre back and Tosin Adarabioyo appears to be a key target.
Football London claimed just a few days ago that Spurs would be making a cash bid for Fulham defender Adarabioyo imminently.
Foot Mercato add that Fulham have been instructing agents to take Adarabioyo to Tottenham but he prefers a move to Monaco.

That’s a tricky situation for Tottenham to navigate as Adarabioyo seemed ideal for what Spurs want.
Adarabioyo is a good age at 25, he’s homegrown, has Premier League experience, a real physical presence and the turn of pace Postecoglou wants.
Few other defenders on the market tick all of those boxes like Adarabioyo and we would urge Spurs to avoid a move for Clement Lenglet.
The Frenchman is still available from Barcelona but didn’t exactly shine on loan at Tottenham last season.
Maybe Postecoglou is confident that Adarabioyo can be convinced into making the move to Spurs, or maybe the Tottenham boss has a surprise up his sleeve this week.
