Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou was spotted having a ‘proper moan’ at goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario in the win over Newcastle United.

That is according to Football London reporter Alasdair Gold, who took to social media from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.

Tottenham produced a superb display to hammer Newcastle United 4-1 on Sunday.

Richarlison bagged a brace, Destiny Udogie got himself on the scoresheet and Son Heung-min scored again, this time from the penalty spot.

This was a fantastic afternoon for Tottenham, especially after five games without a victory, but Ange Postecoglou is still pushing for better from his players.

One such moment was spotted by Football London reporter Alasdair Gold, who saw Postecoglou wanting more from goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

Vicario played a pass behind defender Ben Davies and the Welshman was left with few passing options to progress the play or escape trouble, instead playing the ball out for a throw-in.

Gold noted that Postecoglou ‘had a proper moan’ at Vicario, keen to see him play out from the back with a little more precision.

That is vital to Tottenham’s style of play and Vicario apologised, raising a hand in Postecoglou’s direction to take responsibility for his minor error.

That moment won’t exactly live long in the memory for many but it goes to show just how exact Postecoglou wants to be at Tottenham.

Postecoglou is trying to build a culture and a new style of play, completely different than the approach of Tottenham’s last three managers.

That style places major responsibility on the goalkeeper’s shoulders; they need to be accurate when playing out from the back and willing to offer an option if defenders need an escape ball.

Vicario has largely done well with that role this season but Postecoglou wants him to be even better, believing that there is still some room for improvement.

The Italian appeared to understand what he did wrong and with Postecoglou keeping standards high even with Tottenham winning, Spurs fans can be both reassured and excited.
