Arsene Wenger really wants to keep Jack Wilshere at Arsenal – which could be bad news for Everton.

Arsene Wenger of Arsenal looks on prior to the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 Second Leg match between Arsenal and AC Milan at Emirates Stadium on March 15, 2018 in London, England.

Arsene Wenger is doing everything he can to ensure Jack Wilshere is an Arsenal player beyond this season.

Wilshere is out of contract in the summer and as yet no new deal has been negotiated, but Wenger is extremely keen to keep the midfielder at the club.

This could be potentially bad news for Everton, who as the Metro reports are interested in signing the 26-year-old if he becomes a free agent.

“I can only reassure him [Wilshere] that I want him to stay,” Wenger told beIN Sport.

“We make him a proposal, after that you have to accept Jack is at an age where he will have offers from somewhere else.

“Personally I put my weight in for him to stay and push him to stay.

“I think he’s an Arsenal man. [AC Milan manager Gennaro] Gattuso said the other day he has the technique of a Spanish player and the character of an English player. I think it’s well judged. That’s why you want him to stay at the club.”

The current sticking point that is stopping Wilshere from committing his future to the Gunners is over how much the England international will be paid.

According to the Express the North London outfit are prepared to offer the midfield ace around £100,000-a-week – which is less than he currently earns.

Meanwhile, the Daily Star claims that Wilshere’s earnings would be based on a pay-per-play situation due to the high amount of injuries the Englishman has suffered in the past.
