Stephen Elliott has said on Twitter that Sunderland should appoint Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler as their new manager.
The former Sunderland star believes that Fowler would be a good managerial appointment for the Black Cats.
The pundit has outlined why he thinks that the former Liverpool and Leeds United striker would be an able replacement for Alex Neil at the Stadium of Light.
According to BBC Sport, Alex Neil is set to step down as the manager of Sunderland take charge of Stoke City.
This means that the Black Cats are on the hunt for a replacement manager.
Sunderland urged to replace Alex Neil with Robbie Fowler

Could it happen?
In our view, Sunderland are unlikely to appoint Robbie Fowler as their new manager.
There is speculation that Tony Mowbray will get the job at the Stadium of Light.
Now, we all know that Fowler was a brilliant player, and the 47-year-old does have managerial experience with Muangthong United, Brisbane Roar, East Bengal and Chennaiyin FC.
However, Sunderland are unlikely to take a risk with a manager who has not worked in the Championship.
Mowbray would be the safer choice, and we should not be surprised if he does get the job at Sunderland.
