West Ham United’s Head of Medical and Sport Science Stijn Vandenbroucke has provided an update on injured trio Dimitri Payet, Manuel Lanzini and Sofiane Feghouli to the club’s official website.
The Hammers are in the midst of any injury crisis at the beginning of this season, with no fewer than eight first team players currently out of action.
Their forward options have been considerably depleted, with Andy Carroll the latest to join the injury list.

Midfield has also taken a hit, with last season’s stars Payet and Lanzini both out and summer signing Sofiane Feghouli also unavailable with a hamstring injury.
All three were sorely missed against Bournemouth at the weekend, but Vandenbroucke has provided now positive news on their progress.
“There is light at the end of the tunnel with regard to Manuel Lanzini and Dimitri Payet,” he told the club’s official website.
“Both Dimi and Manuel trained hard [and] will be available for selection very soon. Soso [Feghouli] will be back for our next game in the London Stadium against Watford.”

That will be very welcome news for manager Slaven Bilic, who must have been cursing his luck in recent weeks as player after player has picked up injuries.
While losing several strikers has hit them hard, the absence of the creativity that Payet and Lanzini brought last season has arguably been the biggest loss.
Getting Payet fit will be of paramount importance, with the Frenchman set to be key to their hopes once again this season.
