GD Chaves currently employ a former Sheffield Wednesday player.

Sheffield Wednesday’s rumoured pursuit of Joao Amaral could be brought to an end by Chaves.
Portuguese newspaper Jornal Record reported earlier this week that last season’s six-placed side have established contact with Benfica about signing Amaral – who scored nine goals last season whilst playing as a secondary striker for Vitoria Setubal, and is said to be a loan target for Wednesday.
And according to Record, despite his recent arrival at the Estadio da Luz, the 26-year-old is likely to be on the move again, as it will be difficult for him to break into Benfica’s plans for the coming campaign – although, whether the recipients are Sheffield Wednesday, Chaves or someone else remains unclear for now.

Should Amaral head to the Estadio Municipal, he could, incidentally, link up with a former Owls player, Filipe Melo.
Melo became one of the first Chansiri-era signings at Hillsborough, but only played six times in his two-and-a-half years with Sheffield Wednesday, who allowed him to leave for the Yellows last summer.
