Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City have been linked with Islam Slimani.
Sporting Lisbon boss Jorge Jesus says coveted striker Islam Slimani would score twice as many Premier League goals as Jamie Vardy with the right coaching, GianlucaDiMarzio report.
The Algeria international has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League as The Sun accredit both Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City with strong interest in his services.
The most recent reports cited in GianlucaDiMarzio claim striker Jamie Vardy could be heading to Arsenal, and Jorge Jesus feels his team’s number one striker would be a more than adequate replacement.
“Vardy was this year’s revelation, people say that Slimani wouldn’t be able to play for Leicester, but I disagree. In England if he is guided by a manager who knows a lot about football, he can score double the goals Vardy does,” Jesus told GianlucaDiMarzio.
Vardy netted an impressive 24 Premier League goals as the Foxes went on to lift the title, therefore the Sporting manager’s comments suggests he has great belief in his striker’s ability.
Slimani, 27, netted 27 times in 33 league matches for Sporting this past season though his record in the Europa League wasn’t quite as devastating – notching just twice in seven games.
Both Tottenham and Leicester are on the lookout for a new forward this summer as both are to play in next season’s edition of the Champions League, though Slimani certainly wouldn’t come cheap.
Sporting boss Jesus previously told SIC Noticias that £23.2million is a paltry sum for the striker.
