Manchester United winger Luis Nani got his side off to a fine start scoring in their 2-2 draw with USA.

Beto 6 – Did make some good saves but looked a bit suspect when committing himself.

João Pereira 5 – Really didn’t do anything to prevent Clint Dempsey and co getting forward and enjoying space down the left wing.

Bruno Alves 5 – Had a poor game, looked all over the place and reckless in the air. Not solid at all.

Ricardo Costa 7 – A better game than his partner and came up trumps with an incredible block to deny Michael Bradley.

Hugo Almeida 5 – Brought nothing to the game and as a result was substituted at half-time.

João Moutinho 6 – Wasn’t strong enough in midfield, showed class and skill at times but it was too far and in-between.

Miguel Veloso 5 – Didn’t add much in midfield, couldn’t get through any key passes to set up chances.

Raul Meireles 4 – Gave the ball away a lot, was more of a hindrance than a positive.

Luis Nani 6 – Did well to get his goal, but soon faded and went missing for most of the game.

Hélder Postiga N/A – Injured after only 16 minutes, very unlucky, Portugal missed him.

Cristiano Ronaldo 6 – Does nothing all game and looks poor, then produces the cross of the World Cup. Entirely typical. So far it hasn’t been his World Cup.

SUBS

Eder 6 – Failed to help up front and as much as Tim Howard’s save was very special, if Eder had put the ball anywhere else, it surely would have been a goal.

William Carvalho 7 – Looked like a real player when he came on, added strength and tackling to the midfield. Brought the only piece of consistency to the team.

Silvestre Varela 7 – Super sub. Smashing header on the run, had lots to do and took it expertly, great goal.
