The recent Portsmouth appointment was at Tottenham Hotspur last season.
New Portsmouth manager Kenny Jackett
Portsmouth manager Kenny Jackett has admitted he ‘won’t hesitate’ to use his Tottenham Hotspur contacts to bring in new faces – providing it’s not at the detriment of his own players.
Jackett spent the latter part of last season coaching at Spurs, having left senior roles at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Rotherham United earlier in the campaign.
Appointed Portsmouth’s new boss at the start of this month, the 55-year-old is still awaiting his first signing at Fratton Park.
And having previously looked after past and present Tottenham stars Andros Townsend, Ryan Mason and Harry Kane at Millwall, it is possible that a new link could be forged between the Premier League side and Jackett’s men.
“I have links with Spurs. It’s a very good club, as are many of the big London clubs,” Jackett told The Portsmouth News.
Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino
“I would like to think Portsmouth would be an attractive option at the right time.
“If there are players who don’t quite make it there or need experience, then if it can help Portsmouth I won’t hesitate to do that. Not necessarily at the detriment of our own players, that’s important.”
Portsmouth were promoted as League Two champions under previous boss Paul Cook last season, who has since moved to Wigan Athletic.

And their rediscovered third tier status could leave them in a favourable position to land Tottenham’s top talents, after the likes of Luke McGee, Nathan Oduwa and Luke Amos gained experience at that level in 2016-17.
